I forgot to mention that when I first arrived in New York my good friend Ashley Allen was still in the city (her father has an amazing apartment here on Park Avenue - v. luxe) She had somehow wangled tickets or knew someone to get us free entry into this warehouse launch party for the MTV show 'Skins' which had debuted in England and been so successful they decided to exact copy-cat the series in the US.< Ashley and I
Also, whilst we (the girls that I live with here in New York who are also from Westminster) were settling in to the city we checked out some of the best Manhattan has to offer in terms of nightlife... we went to Boom Boom Room (top of the Standard Hotel), top of the Gansevoort Hotel Bar/Club and Griffin Club - which are all in the meat-packing district ... VERY TREND ZONE. More recently we have still be going out in the meat-packing district but to clubs called 1OAK and Tenjune (the latter i am less fond of as it gets very crowded and their idea of a VIP area is a tiny elevated platform - not the Whisky Mist treatment that I knew so well in Mayfair!) See below a picture of the boom boom room! Its super exclusive and very hard to get into... even us 4 British fashion students struggled!
